Incorporated in 1985, the Bloomington Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) is a not-for-profit 501c6 organization that is structured and operated as a public/private partnership. The BEDC administers the Bloomington Life Sciences Partnership, an initiative dedicated to life sciences industry growth in the Bloomington/Monroe County, Indiana region. In 2008, the BEDC will begin a new initiative, the Bloomington Technology Partnership to address issues critical to growth of the area’s emerging technology business sector.
